There are many ways to weave spiritual practices into your workday. Depending on the type of work you do, your personality, and any workplace policies, you can try personal practices or group practices. Here are some suggestions, but explore other possibilities too!

Spiritual journaling is more that a daily log of the events in your life. It is an opportunity to focus in a particular way on God’s presence in your life, where you are being called to grow as a disciple, and discern how moments in your spiritual life are connected. It might include where you saw God in your day, scripture passages that touch your heart in a particular way, prayers that you hold for yourself or others, etc.
Begin journaling with a short prayer for guidance and insight. Read the gospel passage, and then take some quiet time to reflect on your workweek, or your workday if you are journaling daily. How does the passage challenge you? How does it comfort you? Are you called to act differently at work in light of the passage? Write down your thoughts. At the end of a period of time, perhaps a month, consider doing a “summary” entry that looks back at all of your entries. Share you insights with friends or family. (Back to section)
